During the first two or three days of the program (3 days Semester/ 2 days Summer), the SAI on-site program coordinator organizes a series of meetings and events which are designed to provide students with a thorough orientation of the city and surrounding area, and a full explanation of the academic program, including an introduction to the faculty and staff. By the end of orientation, students will have a clear understanding of their new environment and feel confident moving about the city independently
For Florence Program arrivals, Study Abroad Italy recommends flying into Amerigo Vespucci Airport in Florence. Although there are no direct flights into Florence, this is the most convenient option. Galileo Galilei Airport in Pisa is another option. Pisa's airport is directly connected to Florence’s central train station by both train and bus. The trip takes 1 hour. Students must submit a Student Arrival Information sheet before departure.
All SAI students arriving at the Florence airport during the official check-in dates will be met by an SAI representative, who will coordinate shuttle transfer to the school for program check-in. After check-in, students and their baggage will be taken directly to their apartment. This service is at no cost to the student, but is covered by program cost.
